The true musical ear is not something you can fabricate — when you have it, you can’t stop interpreting the world through music. Brent D. Cole began voluntarily contemplating and experimenting with the relationships between musical pitches on piano at age 3, and wrote his first original song at age 13. When asked how he hears where a song should or could go, Brent shrugs his shoulders as if anybody ought to know the answer, and proceeds to assemble rich chordal structures and orchestral complements around any fundamental tune, whether originated by him or somebody else.
At age 24, Brent has already composed, produced and/or mixed complete, fully-orchestrated cuts across multiple genres, with and for professional musicians at many levels, under pressure of commercial-grade standards and tight deadlines. When composing from scratch, Brent demonstrates skills that are genre-agnostic, sprinkling each piece with a tasty balance of authentic instrumentation and provincial humanity, as if guided by the progenitors of the genre at hand.
