Providence Cordell grew up in an all-American family where she was surrounded by parents and older siblings who adored her. But when the tragic, intentional murder of a baby in her community rocked her world at age 11, Providence embarked on a heart journey to a place of solitude where she began to wrestle with grief and confusion on a scale beyond what most adults ever encounter.

It was this struggle that produced Providence Cordell’s first-ever self-written melody and lyric. When she sang and played the newly-crafted song with an acoustic guitar for a group of friends, it became suddenly clear to all who heard, that an exceptional gift had awakened in her.

Providence’s passion to create fresh and introspective melodies and lyrics has only intensified over the years since. Catchy yet unique songs are highly difficult to create, as any songwriter can attest; but at age 20, Providence Cordell continues to reel off delightfully brand new, hummable folk and pop melodies as if it’s her very nature.
